In January 2021 Skyside South Africa embarked on a project for a client in Namibia to assist with improving their ambient air quality monitoring in accordance with their responsible mining approach to business.
A small team of air specialist travelled in the time of Covid to perform several services to allow for further air monitoring compliance for their business. The objective of the project was threefold, primarily the approach was to perform an audit of the particulate sampling campaign which currently is in operation at the mine. Equipment, sampling locations and sample handling were all closely inspected as was the laboratory handling of test items before they are sent to South Africa for analysis. Several issues were uncovered which potentially could impact results. Skyside undertook to train the client staff to improve on current practices governing the air sampling regimen. The secondary function was to provide general air quality training and also detailed training in the use of new particulate matter samplers purchased for continuous sampling. The last objective was the successful installation of 4 new particulate sampler units at specific locations to provide real-time data for better decision making. An additional co-location project was conducted to confirm the suitability of the instruments installed.
Remote Installation: No Problem!
A project of this nature is the type of multi-faceted, well-rounded service which Skyside South Africa is proud to be associated with.
